The Challenges Facing Men in Japan
Many men in Japan live under significant pressure from work, family responsibilities, financial concerns, and personal relationships.
They are often expected to remain strong, hide their weaknesses, provide for their families, and succeed professionally. Yet many have no safe place where they can honestly share their struggles, failures, loneliness, or questions about faith.
Even within churches, opportunities for men to open their hearts, pray for one another, offer encouragement, and grow together are still limited.
Men need practical guidance from Scripture as they seek to live faithfully as husbands, fathers, workers, church members, and disciples of Jesus Christ. They need a place where they can learn what the Bible teaches and apply it to the realities of everyday life.
Discipleship That Helps Men Grow Together
TWR Japan is developing a ministry that helps men grow in their relationship with God and live faithfully in every area of life.
At the heart of this ministry is Every Man A Warrior, a Bible-based discipleship program designed specifically for men.
Through Every Man A Warrior, men meet in small groups to study Scripture, pray together, memorize Bible verses, and share honestly about their lives.
This is not simply a program for gaining biblical knowledge. Men are encouraged to support one another, practice accountability, and apply God’s Word to their relationships, responsibilities, decisions, and personal struggles.
Our desire is to create communities where men no longer face life alone, but grow together as faithful followers of Christ.
Addressing the Realities of Men’s Lives
The challenges men face do not remain outside the church. Their faith is deeply connected to their work, marriages, families, finances, struggles, temptations, and sense of purpose.
Through this ministry, men study what the Bible teaches about areas such as:
- Developing a personal relationship with God
- Establishing consistent habits of Bible reading and prayer
- Marriage and healthy relationships with their wives
- The responsibilities of fatherhood
- Biblical stewardship and financial integrity
- Work, calling, and purpose
- Faithfulness during suffering and hardship
- Freedom from sexual temptation and destructive habits
- Healthy and accountable relationships with other men
- Discipling and equipping the next generation
We want men to understand that they do not need to hide their struggles. They can come honestly before God and grow alongside trustworthy brothers who will pray for them, encourage them, and help them remain faithful.
From Men to Families, Churches, and Society
When one man is transformed by the Gospel, the impact does not stop with him.
As a man grows in his relationship with God, his marriage can become stronger, his children can experience the influence of a faithful father, and his church, workplace, and community can benefit from his integrity and servant leadership.
Our goal is not simply to produce stronger or more successful men. We desire to equip men who love God, care for their families, serve others responsibly, and remain faithful even during seasons of difficulty.
We also pray that men will grow not only as disciples themselves, but as leaders who are able to encourage, mentor, and disciple other men.
Our vision is to see spiritually mature men raised up throughout Japan who will help strengthen their families, local churches, and future generations.
Serving Alongside Local Churches
This men’s ministry is not intended to operate separately from the local church.
TWR Japan seeks to partner with churches by helping them establish small groups for men, supporting pastors and ministry leaders, and developing a sustainable culture of discipleship.
Every church has its own size, situation, and needs. For this reason, we seek to introduce the program in ways that respect the cultural context of Japan and can be continued realistically within each local church.
In addition to in-person groups, we hope to expand the use of video, audio, podcasts, and other digital resources. These tools will enable men to access biblical discipleship despite geographical, scheduling, or personal limitations.
Our Vision for the Future
Men’s discipleship ministry in Japan is still in its early stages.
In the years ahead, we hope to introduce Every Man A Warrior to more men and churches throughout the country. We also desire to create new resources and media content that speak directly to the particular challenges facing Japanese men.
To develop this ministry, we need to invest in areas such as:
- Translation, editing, and printing of discipleship materials
- Training leaders to facilitate men’s small groups
- Helping churches introduce and sustain the program
- Organizing seminars, conferences, and training events
- Producing video, audio, and podcast resources
- Developing new content addressing the struggles of Japanese men
- Building a network of churches and ministry leaders throughout Japan
To continue and expand this work, we need dedicated staff, Bible teachers, mentors, content creators, ministry partners, and financial support.

Please pray that men throughout Japan will be freed from isolation and find trustworthy brothers with whom they can study Scripture, pray, and grow in their relationship with God.
Please also pray that men will be raised up who live faithfully as husbands, fathers, church leaders, and members of their communities.
